OBSESSED with "Serial." The podcast is a spin-off of "This American Life," a long time favorite of mine, and looks at one-story — a 1999 murder case — over its season. It's been popular from the start, a fact some of you were probably hip to, and incredibly addictive. I've binge listened to the available episodes — so much so that I find reasons to drive just to listen. I'm on No. 8, "The Deal with Jay," and will be lost when I'm caught up.
SAD that my lunch is gone. In what was probably an excuse to listen to "Serial," I decided to venture just a bit outside downtown and go to one of my favorite spots for an udon bowl. Udon noodles, shredded carrots, bean sprouts, cucumber, basil, peanuts, avocado and crispy pork belly. My friends, it doesn't get much better. If you ask why the pork belly, I ask you why not. The spot has more healthful offerings, depending on your definition, but its known for its duck and pork belly. I usually go for the duck but getting the pork belly allowed me to pay with cash.
IN LOVE with these socks from Pro Compression. I know not everyone likes to dress up for races or running but I do love adding some spirit to my outfits. I like to do it for my classes, especially. You can use code SNOW to save 40 percent or use BLG14 to save 40 percent on any marathon socks or sleeves. While you're at it, just check out Pro's new site. It looks really nice!
CONTEMPLATING running the Gingerbread Pursuit next weekend just so I have a reason to wear the new SOM. My pair is already on the way — it's just a matter of choosing where to wear them. The race is 4 miles and the extended forecast is reasonable, which are two big pluses in the pro column. However, as Mark stressed, I can participate in the event but I can't race it. It might be challenging mentally and physically to take part when I'm not at my best.
ENAMORED with my boys. I might have been a teensy weensy bit disappointed that Baby X is a boy but I quickly got over it when I was reminded just how sweet of a child I have. A child who is a boy. Miles is very complimentary, telling me that my freshly painted nails are beautiful or that I look pretty today or that he loves me. He doesn't hesitate to give hugs and will enthusiastically tell me to, "Watch this," as he gives me a huge squeeze.
Mark isn't so bad, either. Filed under the "we've been married long enough" category, he surprised me with an early Christmas gift — a new quilt and shams for the bed. I've never liked the duvet and cover we got as a wedding gift (hassle and a half) and our sheets have seen better days. The new set is like a makeover for the room!
PLANNING to run tonight. In a sly move to maintain my sanity over the holidays, I'm skipping dinner with the in-laws (Mark and Miles will go) and running with Denali. A bit of quiet time (or time with "Serial") will do my mind and body some good. It looks like the #RWRunStreak is on ... for now.
ARRANGING some giveaways for you great readers. Stay tuned next week.
Your turn! Answer, Currently ...
Your lunch looks AMAZING. Currently .... DREADING my 6 mile pace run this afternoon. I always dread pace runs. But I'm crossing my fingers I can get my WIFI to work (it's unpredictable here at work) but it will hopefully save me from treadmill boredom.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed the wifi worked! Ours is spotty at work, too. Oh, and I did the same with pace runs. They were far more scary than intervals.
DeleteCurrently.... craving pork belly (thanks for that), experiencing the beginnings of what I'm sure will be a week of PMS from hell (also tied to the cravings), eating chocolate kisses from my file cabinet that I should be saving for my Secret Santa, procrastinating practicing a speech that I have to deliver in 1.5 hours (oi!) and wishing I'd taken the time to put on earrings this morning. I've gotten hooked on Serial too! I just CAN'T decide if I believe that he's guilty or not, and I'm dreading the final episode because I doubt it will provide any closure, and I'm going to be stuck with this unanswered question for the REST OF MY LIFE (PMS-induced melodrama, don't mind me).
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome! I do apologize for tempting you and, possibly, laughing as I read your comment. It was amusing - more for me than you, but still. I hope your speech went well!
DeleteAnd I agree on Serial. TELL ME NOW. And tell me what the hell with JAY. Please. There needs to be a support group.
Currently am thinking of spring races. Because I've been eating too much pie and turkey not not running enough. Need a goal and something to get me off my butt.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the double half. Just sayin'.
DeleteCurrently....sitting at work waiting to be able to close half the pharmacy so I can go get some food. Yours looked so good for lunch! Where was that from? I need to go there. Dreaming of the day I will be able to run multiple miles at a time and feel good again (just entered into 3rd trimester and got on the treadmill this morning and discovered I had zero desire to run and ended up just walking the whole time, I suppose better than nothing but leaves me feeling sad that it's come to that).
ReplyDeleteAlso in love with Serial! I binge listened and was done right before Thanksgiving just to find out they weren't releasing a new episode that week. I keep thinking of googling the case but I don't want it to spoil the ending for me! That is, if there is a conclusion!
It's from West Coast Grill. I went to the one on South Calhoun but they have a location in the mall. If you haven't been there, you need to go. It's so good.
DeleteAs far as the running, do what you can when you can ... if you want. I thought I ran a ton with Miles but it was rarely more than 3 and I did walk. Some days were better than others. I hope you are feeling well, though!
Currently...sitting on my bed under the covers after having made dinner for the boy and a separate dinner for me, plus finished all the dishes. I'm getting caught up on blogs and maybe some hulu if I can stay awake.
ReplyDeleteThose compression socks are so cute, love the design! Yay for thoughtful husbands and early Christmas presents! :) Currently, I'm trying to soak in this Christmas holiday before I blink and it's over. Sad but true...it seems to fly by so fast!
ReplyDeleteCurrently, I am trying to figure out the name of that lotion...
ReplyDeleteCurrently drinking some homemade peanut butter hot chocolate and it is delicious!! Wishing it was not Sunday night!
ReplyDeleteI kind of want the snow socks. I haven't bought any compression socks in a while because i have too many pairs!!
