What a crock

Workout: 15 minutes upper body and 2-mile walk with Denali

A very special, much anticipated package arrived at my door yesterday.

P1000653

I was so excited and anxious to open the package that I took 10 minutes to find my camera, stage a front door photo and then make Mark take a series of photos opening it like it was Christmas morning.

Of course, Denali had to be all up in the action – quite appropriate since it’s his doing that prompted the delivery.

A new lid for my slow cooker!

::Cue happy dance::

We’ve been sans lid for a good month or two because, if you remember correctly, Denali was all up in the mix one night and knocked the lid off the counter as he tried to smell what was for dinner. Like he was going to get any of it anyway … NOT.

Now, I’m totally in search of an uber new (to us), uber fab recipe to celebrate the return of my favorite kitchen appliance.

Who’s got one?

  1. I make a delicious irish stew - but it's probably too boring for your new lid :)

1.5-2 cups stewing beef (I've used chicken breast cut up before instead)
1 packet of dry onion soup mix
    2 cans tomato soup
    1 can water
carrots (I've used fresh, frozen, and canned) - can be sliced, shredded, or even just left whole (baby carrot size that is)
Diced potatoes - I usually opt for the canned version of these (real time saver)
Cook on low for 7 hours, add frozen peas (the recipe says add another can of water for this last hour, but I NEVER do) and cook on low one more hour. Serve with some bread to dip/sop up - YUM!!!!!!

I have several plastic spiral bound slow cooker recipe books that have hundreds of recipes in them - got them at Sam's club years ago. I've used them hundreds of times - totally worth investment.

Good luck - can't wait to hear what you make.

  2. Ugh, my crock pot broke in the spring of 2009 and I JUST got a new one for Christmas this past year! (2010) I'd totally forgotten what I was missing but I'm definitely on the lookout for new crockpot recipes now, too :)
