Tuesday, By The Numbers

 photo 20150310_082119_zpsjzndulxh.jpg

1: Walk

2: Bottles of Nuun (one Grape, one Fruit Punch-Lemon Lime mix)

2.31: Miles covered

3: Snacks consumed by the 3-year-old in the first mile. For full disclosure, it was an applesauce pouch, pack of fruit snacks and chocolate chip granola bar.

4: The amount, in dollars, I spent on Miles' new jacket for spring. As he says, it "breaks wind."

4.5: Number of times we listened to "Let It Go." To the people of the '07, I am deeply sorry.

5: Number of times I had to stop to get the blanket unstuck from the wheels of the stroller.

6: Number of feet actually walking – two of mine, four belonging to Denali. (After a rough week, he is back to normal. We're pretty sure he ate something outside but what, we're not sure. The yard has been snow-covered for months.)

20: Time, in minutes, it took to get ready for the walk

36: The temperature, in degrees

127: Times I feared I might need to go to the bathroom

3.482: Number of questions that I answered during the walk, including 458 about what would happen if Miles ate our house and we had to live underground.

0: Number of good answers I came up with

Other notable numbers:

1: Number of opened condom wrappers spotted. As it so happened, I noticed it within 50 feet of the neighborhood Catholic church.

2: Number of times Miles asked me to get the right stroller. Apparently, we have to use the Graco and not the BOB for walks.

3: Number of times I almost fell in a 10-foot stretch. The dip in the street, apparently, was the perfect place for melting snow to pool and freeze last night. I thought it looked wet, not icy, but I was wrong. Thank goodness for a strong core and tight grip on the stroller.

A bajillion-kajillion: Number of times I was grateful to be a) walking; b) spending time with Miles; and c) the warming weather. It's been far too long.

  2. Oh gosh I well remember those blanket-in-the-wheel days. Ugh!

  3. I'm glad you didn't fall! I was up there and decided to go for a run around Forest Park Blvd and proceeded to slip on some ice. Then I found out my uncle fell on some ice and broke his hip at South Side's natatorium! I hope all the snow up there is finally gone.
